Jaqcues Louissier: Infectious Joy

A new friend of mine, John Dennison*, introduced me to Jacques Louissier on the way to work this morning. I poked around YouTube and found this wonderful video which I dare you not to enjoy.

So, of course, I have a new add to my Amazon wishlist.

* I find it absolutely hilarious that I know someone with his own Wikipedia entry.

4 Thoughts.

  1. I did not enjoy it. No resemblance to Bach whatsoever. I think Bach would turn over in his grave if he heard it! The drums and cymbals were very distracting. I know how much you value my opinion so there it is 😉

  2. No resemblance? You didn’t hear the theme from the Harpsichord Concerto?

The resemblance is about musical structures, not whether or not the music sounds Baroque. Insisting on a Baroque sound would be like insisting Shakespeare only ever be performed in tights and codpieces. 😉

  3. Generally I’m one of those “Shakespeare only in tights” kinda people. But I have to say I agree with you on this one if, for no other reason, the pianist is such an adorable, serious performer and the drummer is just having SO much fun. 🙂
